The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, has put information on its web site that denies anything will happen on December 21 2012 other than a Winter Solstice. NASA, a US Government agency, has gone to considerable trouble to present a ‘scientific’ case as to why the ‘conspiracy theories’ of the End of Days in 2012 are just that, theories and not to be believed.
As the leading authority in the world on space, astronomy and other celestial matters, NASA has a considerable amount of credibility with governments and individuals alike, not to mention academics and their institutions. It is because of this solid reputation that it behooves us to at the very least ask some of the often awkward questions we need to ask. After all, we are talking about the possible annihilation of not just the human species but also our planet.
If the Earth were to be ‘dissolved’ then the effect on the orbits and gravitational pull of every other planet and moon in our solar system would be catastrophic. All of the planets stay where they are because of the other planets. Take one out of the equation and the result would be chaos.
This Doomsday 2012 scenario is one no government would like to have preying on the minds of its citizens. Too many people might take it as license to rampage around and do as they wish. After all, once the 22nd of December arrives there will be no police, courts or prisons to make them suffer consequences for their actions.
Even the term, Doomsday 2012, lends itself to pessimistic preconceptions. So will the world end that day or will it be the end of the world as we know it? That subtle difference can mean either a better or worse world but at least one where life still goes on. Perhaps the changes will occur that day but be subtle and require generations to manifest themselves. What we do know is that information dispels ignorance and ignorance is the basis of fear. It pays to do some more research and reading, let’s face it, whatever happens will happen to all of us.
